Just wanted to give everyone an update:

We finally worked out a deal on the land that we have been working on buying on Muck Road . We signed the final papers last Friday for the property. Now we will be getting the fallen building and debris cleaned up on the lot. Next year hopefully we can come up with some good ideas for fundraisers to make enough money so we can put up a club storage building on the lot. The lot has a lot of potential for the club because it already has a well, septic and electric. Any ideas you have for fundraisers please bring to the club meeting on Wednesday, February 1st at the South 40.

Please remember that we still have lottery calendars to sell. If you would like to get some lottery calendars please contact Regina Lunkenheimer at 947-6052. Everyone's support is what keeps this club going. Let’s try to make this lottery calendar fundraiser a success for the club again this year. We need continued support from club members to do this.

An Update for Oswego Valley ATV Club Members

Elections were held at our October meeting. Officers are as follows:

President is Jermey Bomgren
Vice president is Steve Engle
Secretary is Barb Rieth
Treasurer is Regina Lunkenheimer.

The board members and all other positions will remain the same.

We are still selling lottery calendars. They are a great Christmas gift. We really need everyone’s help selling calendars so that we can make it as successful as the last time. The drawings will be held during the months of February, March, and April. If you would like to purchase some or sell them please contact Regina Lunkenheimer at 947-6052.

We are trying to purchase property on Muck Road for club use.

The next club meeting will be held on February 1st, 2012. We will be discussing our annual NASCAR chicken barbecue on February 26th at the South 40. Our next newsletter will be sent out at the end of January and will include additional details on meeting locations.

We would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays and hope to see everyone next year (is it spring yet?).

Overgrown Signs

Many of our club's trail signs are becoming overgrown with weeds and grass. We are asking for help from members to weedwack around signs as you ride the trails (if you have some extra time). Trail Closed !!!

Attention Members: The trail that goes from 66 Road to the American Legion will be closed for a bit due to the landowner leasing his land to a farmer to pasture animals. Once the farmer gets his fence up we will re-route the trail around the fence. Also, we will have to break a new trail through the woods to get to the back side of the Legion again. We will let everyone know when the trail is all set to ride on again. Let's please respect the landower so we can keep this trail.

Flooded Trails

ATTENTION MEMBERS:

Please be extra careful when riding on the trails right now. We have several areas where the water is washing across the trails. These areas could turn into washouts on the trail. When riding through water, make sure that it's not too deep and there is still a bottom there. Any major washouts or other problems please contact Jermey Bomgren at 592-8626 or Derek Moody at 289-4397. Please give us the location and details of the problem. Thanks and please ride safely!

Trails Opening!!

Tomorrow our trails will open for the season. The trails are very wet at this time so please take it easy on them so we won't have as much work later in the season. This is also a good way to keep our landowners happy. Let's have a great and fun riding season again this year!!

The club has received the grant through Polaris that we applied for and with the grant we have started contracting some ditch work and trail leveling in a few different areas along the Oswego and Cayuga county trail systems.

Memorial For Jim Marra

Wanted: Club Trail Coordinator

We are looking for a volunteer to be the club trail coordinator. This person will help trail bosses maintain trails and obtain materials and equipment necessary for work details. This person will report to the president and vice president of the club on decision-making and purchases (looking into purchasing needed materials, etc). We will be having a work detail this Saturday at 8am. We will be working on the Hubbard trail and will meet on the righthand side of Oswego street in Hannibal where the trail crosses the road. There is plenty of place to park there, as they have been dumping a lot of fill in that area. Bring you machines so you can ride to places on the trail that we are going to fill in with stone and gravel. Also bring a shovel or rake if you have one. We have some but might not have enough if we get a decent turn out. All that are available to help would be great. The more help we have the easier and the faster we can get things done. We will be having a work detail Saturday August 7Th at 12 noon. The location will be behind the IGA in Hannibal. Just bring yourself, we will have all the tools that are needed. The trails that are close to the Muck Road parking will be closed due to logging in the area. The parking area is closed also. As they get sections of that area done we will re-open the trails.

Gas Card Raffle Tickets

Oswego Valley ATV Club is having a gas card raffle. Tickets are on sale now until July 13th. On July 13th, two tickets will be drawn at the club meeting to be held at the American Legion on Rochester Street in Hannibal. First prize is a $200 Gas Card and second prize will be a $50 Gas Card. Members are asked to go out on their own (at your convenience) to help trim back the trails (remove tree branches hanging in the trail, etc.) and trim around signs (to allow a clear view). The grass is mostly mowed where we can get to it with the tractor and mower. We need lots of help to get the rest of the trimming done so our trails are safe for all riders. Minor trail maintenance such as this can be done by ANY member. Any further questions contact Jermey at 592-8626. Thanks and ride safely.
